Greenwich resident Andrew Schmidt, 19, has been sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty earlier this year to the April 2016 hit-and-run that took the life of Edward Setterberg on East Putnam Avenue in Greenwich.
Schmidt was driving with his friends on East Putnam Avenue on the day of the fatal crash, when he struck Setterberg, 43, and sped away. Investigators eventually tracked him down and he was arrested and charged with evading responsibility involving a fatality.
Although he has been free on $100,000 bond since his arrest in 2016, Schmidt was also busted in December last year for doing “doughnuts” and damaging a field near I-95 in Greenwich while driving a Hummer. His driving privileges were revoked as a result of that incident.
